The Fleet's Restoration Journey

As mentioned in the Jersey Camper Hire Company Profile section the company is parented by Le Riche Automobile Restorers, an experienced classic car restoration company of 20 years. All our campervans have had work done on them in the company workshop.  They have had work from full extensive restoration of some of the older models to a simple service of the new Danbury camper van.

1967 Split Screen - Day camper

The first van to go under the grinder was our 1960's Split Screen, it has been through a gruelling journey, once an ambulance in Portugal. This camper has been stripped down to bare metal and been rebuilt through months of hard graft. It has had a custom built colour coded interior fitted. We are very proud of our 1960's Split Screen it is a fine example.

1970 Westfalia Bay Window

The next to have work done was the Westfalia Bay Window. This campervan has had a rather extensive restore, it has had the entire interior removed, all rust removed, re-sprayed inside and out and the original Westfalia interior fixed and re - fitted. It would have been easier to replace the interior but the hard work paid off it really does make this van a wonderful / original 70s experience to stay in.

1975 Bay Window

The next van to be restored was the 1975 bay window, this camper van was in really good condition when purchased by us so just a small amount of work needed to be done plus a bit of a re – vamp on the interior.

1977 Devon Bay Window

We finished working on our latest addition 1977 Devon Bay Window in June 2011 and it really is the star of the fleet. We entirely stripped the interior and the van back to bare metal, we have cut out rust and welded in new sections of panel. We refurbished the parts that were worth saving such as the front seats and fold out bunks. A brand new custom interior has been fitted and funky lino and soft furnishings added.
