What will the Hand-over Entail?

Paperwork - Firstly we will take photocopies of all your ID information and your card details. You will then be asked to fill out a form with some personal information and your signature.

Walking round the camper van – We will give you a walk round the outside of the campervan and point out any marks or dents that we are aware of and show you the fuel cap, boot and engine bay where applicable. It is at this point you should point out any marks we may have missed, this is important to protect your £750 deposit.

Inside the camper van – we will run through the correct operation of the pop up roof, the cooker, fridge, rock and roll bed, seatbelts, and power supply and fold away table. All above are where applicable. We will also show you where all your equipment is kept, pots, pans, fire extinguisher and first aid kit etc. If anything comes back damaged through improper use you will be charged.

Operation - We will then give you a demonstration of how to drive the vehicle, the level of detail to this depends on how confident you appear. We will normally point out what all dials, switches and levers do and quickly run through the gear positioning while on a standstill

We will also point out any extras you have paid for if you need to ask any questions at any point please do, we prefer silly questions to silly mistakes!! Please allow half an hour for the hand over process.
All the information from the hand over will be in your manual in your welcome pack, should you need to refer to any information given about your VW campervan.

How Do I Pay?

The easiest method to pay for your camper hire is credit card by telephone. We will also take postal orders or cheques, and of course cash is fine too (although not by post please). Or if you are lucky enough to have received one of our Jersey Camper Hire gift vouchers, that may also be redeemed to pay all or part of your holiday.

With regards to online bookings please do contact us first, we have had a few problems with dates appearing to be booked when they are not so the date you want might still be available.

You can also pay a deposit of £100 to secure your booking, and the balance will be payable 14 days before the first day of your holiday. Unfortunately, if your balance remains unpaid after this time and there has been no communication we will assume you no longer want your booking and it could be used for another customer. Your deposit would be non refundable in this instance.

What are the Finer Details of the Insurance?

Does the price include Insurance?

There are additional charges for Insurance which covers you in the event of an accident and there is a mandatory security deposit of £500 which is paid as a Security Deposit prior to the commencement of travel, this will be returned to you on the safe return of the campervan.

What type of insurance cover is provided with the camper van?

Each hire includes fully comprehensive insurance for named drivers. Each driver must be aged between the ages of 25 and 70 (please see terms and conditions for more details).
The insurance excess stands at £750 and as yet we do not operate a collision waiver option. Driven safely and with the respect these classic campervans require this should never be a problem.

Do I need to pay a security deposit on the Collection day?

Yes. There is a refundable security deposit of £750. This is to cover any damage caused to the camper van or its contents whilst in your hands. This deposit is payable by credit card.

This deposit is fully refundable upon return of the vehicle as stated in the rental agreement, with the interior clean (including all cooking appliance), the fuel tank replenished and the vehicle free from damages.

In the instance that there is some of the kind of damages as listed above, we will keep your whole deposit until the damage has been repaired, we will refund the difference once the work has been carried out.

What happens if the campervan breaks down?

The insurance includes 24 hour recovery both on and off Island (Western Europe only). Details will be provided when hiring.

Can more than one of our party drive the camper van?

Yes. Our insurer allows for up to three different people who can be named drivers. We will need to see their driving licences and passports too. Again, they must be over 25 years of age and under 70 years of age.

What are the Collection and Return arrangements?

Collection is at 1pm please do not get here any earlier than 12.50pm and if you are going to collect later than 1pm please let us know in advance. We can see if we can allow you to collect earlier but we will not be able to say until a couple of days before and there will be a charge. This is especially useful for people hiring the campervans as wedding cars here in Jersey.

Return is at 10am please be here on time as we need to clean the camper vans for the next hire. Late returns will result in a charge equivalent to a full days hire, if you do think you are going to be late please call us.

If you arrive at the Airport or Harbour there are nearly always taxis waiting there so you can get to us fairly easily. There is also a great bus service:

From the harbour you can walk to Liberation Station and take bus route 4 and leave the bus at Trinity Church, walk left down La Rue de Monnaie (B51) and we are on the left hand side in an industrial estate called Springside.

If you wish to catch a bus see this link: http://www.libertybus.je/

Our address is:
Unit 10, Springside, La Rue de Monnaie, Trinity. JE3 5DG

If you get lost at all call us, we are happy to give directions. 01534 864073
We can collect you from the harbour or airport but we will have to charge £35 so it is better for you to get a taxi, but if this is a simpler option for you it can be arranged.

What if I want to cancel?

Cancellation 2 weeks - 6 weeks before hire
Full loss of deposit. Moving your booking at this stage will incur a £50 charge.
Cancellation 6 or more weeks before the first day of hire
100% refund less an administration charge £20. Moving your booking at this stage is free.

What About Parking in Jersey?

It is not always easy to find parking spaces in town or near popular attractions. Parking within these areas is often controlled by:
Yellow lines: A single yellow line parallel to the curb or roadside prohibits parking day and night.

Parking (scratch) cards: Parking on St. Helier streets and in most public car parks is paid for with parking cards, which can be bought at the Sand Street car park or from any shop or garage that display the parking card symbol. The amount of time you get for a one unit pay card is always written in a sign near where you are parking.

Parking discs: On some roads on the outskirts of St. Helier, parking is free but controlled by a time limit so parking discs should be displayed, available from the St. Helier Town Hall or the St Brelade and St Saviour parish halls.

If a parking area has no official signs of rules or regulations then it is free to park, nearly all beackes and countryside areas in Jersey have free parking.

NOTE: All our campervans are too tall to fit into the multi storey car parks in Jersey.

Is there somewhere to leave my Car?

There is a public car park on the industrial estate where we are based but we accept no liability for any loss or damage that may occur to your vehicle while parked here.

Are the camper vans reliable?

The Type 2 Volkswagen Transporter is reliable, after each camper hire the vehicle is checked and regularly serviced. It should however be remembered that vehicles of this age are subject to occasional minor glitches.

How fast are these classic camper vans?

VW Campers are not built for speed, but are more designed for a leisurely driving experience.
We recommend 55mph when off Island and Jersey's speed limit is 40mph, with many zones less. We ask that you respect the age of the van and drive considerately & remember your on holiday not in a race!

What are they like to drive?

Please remember some of these vans are over 30 Years old. They have been professionally maintained, but are still very old and should be treated with the respect that they deserve. Many of Jersey’s roads are very narrow so as long as you drive carefully you should not have a problem.
They do not have power assisted steering, but are none the less extremely enjoyable and fun to drive. If you are unsure we can arrange a quick lesson before you head off and after an hour or so on the road you will be a complete expert!

Also with regards to parking, the campervans cannot fit into any of the multi story car parks in Jersey.
